Gone are the days when women who did not value their self-esteem and considered themselves below men got attracted to badboys who smoked all day, drank too much, snorted questionable substances, had severe mommy-issues and were abusive to the people around them. Today’s woman knows who she is, what she wants and who she wants to be with. And she has chosen a breed of men who are well-known for their mannerisms, politeness, intelligence and old-fashioned beliefs- British and Irish Men.
If we are talking about the growing popularity of British men among women, David freaking Tennant is the one who started this trend and to this day remains the ultimate weakness of millions of women. Women loved Tennant mainly for his personality- the quirky clothes, the sharp wit, the clever sense of humour, the fierce passion for his work, the brilliant acting and don’t even get me started on the flawless hair. David might be on the verge of turning 43 but deep down he is just an overexcited five year old.
Look at this dork? I mean, how can you not fall for his weird face? Matt Smith brought to us an infectious childishness and killer looks, but he was also known for his modest nature, being lovely to his fans and playing the Eleventh Doctor with an incredible passion. My favourite thing about Matt? He is so effortlessly fantastic with kids, it’s to die for.
Tom Hiddleston stepped into our lives as Loki, Thor’s evil and jealous brother. With his 6’2 frame, blonde hair and blue eyes- he is a prince from a Disney fairy tale. His natural charisma, elegant body language and kind but poetic words made us drool helplessly. What fascinated most women was that a man who played a power-hungry murderous psychopath brilliantly on screen is actually a dork who recites Shakespeare sonnets, plays the guitar like a lonely lover and respects women.
If voices could kill this man would be a mass murderer. With popular projects like Sherlock, Star Trek, The Hobbit and 12 Years a Slave under his belt, his portfolio can make any actor envious. But his silky, chocolatey voice especially as a villian is what makes women breathless. In some countries, whispering his full name in the ear of your female partner is considered foreplay.
I agree Arya, but now women have come to realize their potential and accept their worth. They do not want a man with biceps like Thor or six-packs like Ryan Gosling, they want men with intelligence, charisma and impeccable manners. Their knight is not in a shining armour, he is sensitive, gentle and treats them like a queen. Finally, we have learned to look beyond looks and pay attention to the person inside. Way to go, women!
